Games

Minecraft

The most popular game in the world, one of the first games I've ever played.

Holds many dear memories, probably the game that I've played the most in my life, easily put thousands of hours into it. Can be played with friends.

First started playinh on 1.5.2, 1.7.10 still holds a special place in my heart. Recently, haven't played as much as before, there are just other, better games out there.

Just because of the legacy: 10/10

Vintage Story

Game inspired by Minecraft, obviously. Adds cool survival mechanics, better foraging, crafting. TerraFirmaCraft, but a seprate game. Can be played with friends.

Runs on a custom engine, quite perfomant, still in development.

Currently: 9/10 In perspective: 10/10

Sims

A series of games, currently owned by EA. Peaked around Sims 2 - Sims 3

Has a lot of mods. Sims 4 isn't very good.

Sims 2: idk, haven't played Sims 3: 8.5/10

Factorio

Legendary factory builder game. If you still haven't played it ==> the hell are you doing with your life? Can be played with friends.

Has lots of mods, very perfomant. Even better with the new Space Age dlc.

10/10

Statisfactory

Factorio, but in 3d. Runs on unreal engine, so can be quite hard on your hardware. Can be played with friends.

Way easier than Factorio, due to logistics not being limited to 2 dimensions. Still in development.

8.5/10

Turing Complete

A logistics game centered around making your own CPU, with your own instruction set.

Very cool, can be laggy, teaches you how to actually make it.

9/10

Tunnet

A small game centered around making a working network with limited tools.

Has a PS 1 style, kind of horror-ish, doesn't actually need any real network knowledge

Kind of sad that it doesn't feel finished, although it is. Still, very good if you are into that type of games. Kind of like factorio, but only the infrastructure part. Has some quests and puzzles, but they often are more of a nuisance, than actually interesting; although, there are guides to them, so you can choose to figure them out by yourself or just finish ASAP to continue the network building.

8/10, could have been a 10/10 with some more QoL

Dwarf Fortress

Legendary world simulator. There are 3 modes: Fortress, Adventure and Legends.

Fortress - the main one. Gets easy when you figure things out. Allows you to build a full fledged fortress with moats and horrors beyond comprehension.

Adventure - allows you to walk around the world as a single person (or a party), to fight with beasts, join civilizations, destroy civilizations. Kind of unfinished currently. The main selling point is visiting your own fortresses

Legends - allows you to read the worlds "lore" in a wikipedia-like interface. Cool if you are into that kind of stuff

Still in development, will be untill the singularity, and a bit more. Often generates very fun stories, even if you don't seek out them actively. Figuring out the ways to make fun, is the main progression of Dwarf Fortress. Survival is the easy part, the problem is, how do you kill them in the funniest way possible?

With the Steam version has gotten easily understandable for untrained eyes. Has some cool mods.

Oxygen not included

A 2d colony simulator with detailed luquid and gas system.

Very enjoyable. Gameplay loop consists of: you do something, you need to make something else so that the earlier thing doesn't kill you, and so on

Has a lot of content, has DLCs.

9/10

RimWorld

A 2d top-down colony simulator with detailed character system.

Allows for different playstyles. Notably, allows torturing, human trafficking, organ selling, cannibalism, child slavery, etc.

Has very cool DLCs, has lots and lots of very cool mods, that can change your game to a space sim, to a coomer game, etc. Can be played with friends using mods.

8/10, can be more with mods

Project Zomboid

A 2d isometric survival rpg.

Allows for different playstyles, by changing the ingame world settings. Can be a brutally hard shooter, a lovely gardening game. Has lots of mods to expand on that.

Currently in development, already has working and very cool: cars, zombies, cities, cool in-game map, that you need to fill out. Allows for full widreness survival. Can played with friends (in newest updates on the unstable branch the multiplayer is most often disabled, that isn't too big of a problem if you are a new player though)

9/10, can be more with mods

Kenshi

A 3d open world rpg game, inspired by Dwarf Fortress.

Quite cool, you can explore the world, fight civilizations, etc. You can be a trader, a fighter, a slave, etc.

8/10 +- 2 points depending on your playstyle, knowledge of the game, etc.

10/10

Risk of Rain

A well known series of roguelike (lite?) games.

Risk of rain 1 is 2D. Has some cool ideas, quite basic in some places, still, very enjoyable. Can be played with friends.

8/10

Risk of rain 2 is 3D. Very close to the first game, both in highs and lows. Gets very easy when you figure things out, knee-deep at best. Good game, lacks more interesting item interactions. Often, you can just slap whatever item and become stronger. Still, very cool, especially when you still don't know all of the items and secrets. Can be played with friends.

9/10

Noita

Cool roguelike with a lot of secrets, sometimes still unsolved. The main feature is the pixel sandbox world. Can be played with friends using mods, though, you may want to not do that, untill you get a bit better at the game.

Centers around a very cool magic (wand) system. Would reccoment to try and figure out the game yourself for some time. Quite centered around luck, still, very enjoyable, even when you figure things out.

9.5/10 for the uniqueness, probably around 8.5/10 when you figure everything out, which will take some time.

Forts

A game around building Forts. Centers around playing versus your friends or AIs. The AIs can be quite good.

Becomes stale in singleplayer quite quickly. Has some cool mods.

8/10

Clone Drone in the Danger Zone

A 3d robot voxel slice-em-up. The most cool feature is the combat system, which allows you to slice off any part of the enemies' body using your sword, spear, bow, whatever. Same goes for your enemies.

Centers around a roguelike gameplay loop of upgrading your robot, dying, trying again. Can be very hard.

The controls are quite easy, but will take some time to master. Can be played with friends. Has an interesting singleplayer campaign. Has an infinite mode.

8.5/10

Kenshi

A 3d open world rpg game, inspired by Dwarf Fortress.

Quite cool, you can explore the world, fight civilizations, etc. You can be a trader, a fighter, a slave, etc.

8/10 +- 2 points depending on your playstyle, knowledge of the game, etc.

Voices of the void

A so-called horror indie game, centered around a simple game play loop of doing your job. Uses unreal engine, so can be quite taxing on your computer.

Scary untill you remember the events and figure out the "rules"

When it is not a horror, it is a, kind of, job simulator: you run all over the place, buy cameras, clean up, add custom posters, music, you can even add 3d models.

Quite enjoyable. Fun horror element, I personally like the gameplay loop, the customization is very cool, still in development.

9/10, -4 if you do not like the job/life simulator part.

Duskers

A 2d top-down view roguelike strategy game, centered around exploring and salvaging ships using your drones.

Quite limited in content, but can be quite fun. Has cool command line controls and cool visual style. Can artifact sometimes, but generally very good.

9/10 - 2 points when you remember all upgrades.

ENA: Dream BBQ

A 3d exploration quest. Mostly focusing on the ENA asthetic. Is free on steam.

A worthy succesor for the Youtube animations, watch them first, then, if you like it, play the game.

10/10

Websites

Divinicide

link

Very cool website. Has a cool schizo aesthetic. Worth spending a couple of evenings.

9/10

EyeMaze

link

A collection of small web games from one japanese author. Very cool, I remember spending quite a bit of time as a kid on them. Has this flash game air around it

8/10, though, reccommend to try it atleast once

neal.fun

link

A collection of web games from one author (neal). Very cool, is very popular.

10/10

Websdr

link

A collection of running software-defined radio receivers. You can tune in to listen to radio in any part of the world. I personally like to listen sometimes to radio amateurs.

7/10, if you are into that kind of stuff

NationStates

link

Online nation roleplay game. Made for social interactions. Every day you get to choose a solution to some political problem, which in turn influences your nation.

Can be played alone, but best when interacting with coalitions of players.

9/10, if you are into that kind of stuff

Contentmakers

Neuro-sama

Very cool AI vtuber streamer project. I'm not really into Vtubers, but this just sparks joy. Probably the only good content-related AI application.

My stance on AI would probably be quite different, if not for Neuro-Sama.

It gets better and better with time. There are lots of neuro clippers on Youtube.

Good video if you are new
